Aleyna Salas
I go to school at Eagle Elementary and am in the 4th grade.  I really love school and my favorite subjects are reading and writing.  I have lived in Zionsville my whole life.

I don’t really write poetry often but l love to write books in my free time.  I entered the contest because I think writing of any kind is enjoyable and I wanted to try something new.   J. K. Rowling is my role model and my Harry Potter House is Ravenclaw.  Being a Ravenclaw means you are smart, creative, and clever!

Mary M. Brown
I live with my husband Bill in Anderson, Indiana.  I'm a Hoosier not by birth but by long residence and disposition who enjoys proximity to my children and six grandchildren.  Retired now, I taught literature and creative writing at Indiana Wesleyan University (Marion) for many years.  I was also an editor of The Steinbeck Review.

Because I believe in public art, I wanted to participate in the sidewalk poetry project.  I tried to write a poem accessible to children (as well as adults) in this public place.  I have participated in several Brick Street Poets projects in the past and in the April celebration of poetry at the Artsgarden, Indianapolis.  My poetry appears on the Poetry Foundation,American Life in Poetry, and Indiana Humanities websites and in many journals including Flying Island, JJournal, Quiddity, and Christian Century.   Flying Island nominated two of my poems for a Pushcart Prize.
