2025 Winners

2025 was the first time a young gentleman won the contest, and we had a

​Cameron is 8 years old and going into third grade at Union. He loves reading graphic novels, playing sports (hockey and soccer are his favorites, but he also plays lacrosse and basketball. He is also a talented breakdancer and drummer, though not at the same time. He has a great vocabulary and was happy to use it in the creation of his poem.

I walk along each sidewalk-

no two are the same.

The journey is joyful,

each square a small step

leading me closer

to where I belong.

Anna Rose Worthington

​Anna Rose is 10 years old and going into the 6th grade at Zionsville Middle School. She loves to make art, and has placed in several statewide art contests. She was excited to try a writing contest. She likes to play hockey and is an accomplished gymnast. She likes reading and playing the piano.
 

I hear birds chirping way up high,

as sunlight sparkles in my eye.

I feel the trees—both short and tall

and breathe in flowers' fragrant call,

Each step was sweet, like a summer song. 

So long, sidewalk—I’ll be back before long.
